If you are in the process of doing business with a company online, how do you know if they are scamming you or trustworthy? It’s a fact that no one wants to lose money and get caught in a scam. You don’t just want to search for their name online. You should check and research their reputation online, and what others are talking about them.
Did you find this company online? Did one of your connections recommend them to you? Did they spam you with an email or a text message? Did they call you when you have not given them your number? These are all questions you should be able to answer when doing business with any one new.
Research, research, research
Start by looking at their website. Does it look to the point, complete and professional? Do they have any contact information, privacy policy or a terms and conditions statement? View their about page and find out what’s the mission and vision of this company. You should also try and find out how long this company has been in business and if the website is really trustworthy. There are many domain registrars online where you can check the age of the domain and how long it has been registered.
Search online for any negative reviews and complaints about the business. What are people talking about them online and on popular social media channels? Are they active on social media? Do they respond to queries or did they only create their profiles to be on the social web. If they are not active on the social web, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they are untrustworthy, but it does show if they are actively marketing their brand and company online.
It’s easy to be tricked online. Do some research before doing business with anyone online.
